Why do we charge an adoption fee?

Here at the South Yorkshire Animal Centre we are often asked why we charge a fee when re-homing animals.

As a charity we receive no financial aid from the government or lottery funding. The RSPCA promotes responsible pet ownership, and as such we provide our animals with the appropriate and preventative medical care. This frequently exceeds the amount charged for within the adoption fee.
